Office of Presidential Libraries – Digital Media Intern
Fall 2010 Internship
The National Archives and Records Administration has internship
opportunities in the Office of Presidential Libraries, for the Fall 2010
semester. Candidates should be pursuing a graduate degree in
Information Studies and/or Library Science with an emphasis on digital
technology or e-Government. This is an unpaid internship program.
Interns will work closely with staff members to support management of
Web-based initiatives at the Presidential Libraries. These internship
positions will provide an opportunity to gain first-hand experience in
the development of Gov 2.0 programs and projects that support online
access to archival holdings. Work projects will focus on the areas
described below, and will be customized based on the selected interns’
skills and specializations. Coordination and development of projects
will be provided by a staff member who holds a Masters in Library
Science.
Location:

Podcast Production
Responsibilities include:
● Researching and developing content for podcast production
● Writing podcast scripts
● Preparing and applying metadata in the appropriate podcast
platform
Social Media
Responsibilities include:
● Conducting research of the Presidential Libraries holdings to
explore topics for Web 2.0 content
● Monitoring social media activity on multiple platforms
● Creating reports and providing analysis of web analytics and
other appropriate measurement tools
● Providing support for the development and launch of rich social
media interactions
Requirements:
● Coursework or comparable experience in information technology,
web analytics, and digital media
● Experience in maintaining blogs, wikis, and a diverse range of
social media platforms and management tools
● Excellent writing, communication, and research skills
● Proficient in Google Analytics, Microsoft Word, Excel, and
PowerPoint
● Knowledge of user-experience principles
