As part of the University Libraries’ Speaking of Books series, Dr. Hugo Keesing, former Professor in the American Studies department, will be discussing Next Stop is Vietnam: The War on Record 1961-2008, a 13-CD box set he has curated for Bear Family Records. The event will take place Tuesday, November 23, 4:30-6:00pm in the Michelle Smith Performing Arts Library Piano Room in the University's Clarice Smith Performing Arts Center. It’s free. Refreshments will be served.
Dr. Keesing is the collector and donor of several collections that reside in MSPAL’s Special Collections in Performing Arts, all of which focus on popular music and culture. The box set in many ways represents a fusion of Dr. Keesing’s interests in American history and in popular music. We are looking forward to hearing him speak about this project from his unique perspective.
