Salary Level: Academic Level A, A$72,675 - A$77,733 per year (plus up to 9% employer superannuation plus leave loading.) 

A Postdoctoral Research Fellow position is available for work in the multidisciplinary areas of process control and membrane technology on an Australian Research Council funded project. This work aims to reduce membrane fouling by developing destabilizing electro-osmotic flow control integrated with spacer design to maximize mixing in membrane channels. The postdoctoral fellow will be responsible for detailed development of mathematical models for CFD simulations, flow control strategies and algorithms for membrane system fouling reduction. The work will be supervised by Associate Professor Jie Bao and Professor Dianne Wiley.

Essential criteria: a PhD in Engineering or Mathematics; good knowledge of and research experience with process control and modern control theories; strong mathematical skills; ability to work independently; excellent oral and written communication skills; a good track record of research publications; knowledge of OHS responsibilities and commitment to attending relevant OHS training; knowledge of equal opportunity principles.

Desirable criteria: good knowledge of and research experience with flow control, computational fluid dynamics modelling and simulations, control of distributed parameter systems, nonlinear control theory and membrane systems.

This is a fixed term position for one year with possible extension to two years, available immediately.
