The SET Awards (Science, Engineering & Technology Student of the Year) are important awards for science and technology undergraduates..

Supported by Industry, and leading scientific and technical institutions, the SET awards are multidisciplinary to reflect the wide range of degrees our universities have to offer.

The SET awards provide a showcase for educational excellence by publicly recognizing the exceptional achievements of both students and universities. They are presented at a spectacular ceremony bringing together hundreds of technology students and academics, as well as senior figures from industry, government, science and the media

There are no entry costs. Only faculty may nominate a student. To see the rules and the registration information go to http://www.setawards.org

Entries are received in the following categories:

Best Aeronautical Engineering Student
Best Biology Student
Best Biomedical Student
Best Chemical Engineering Student
Best Chemistry Student
Best Civil Engineering Student
Best Earth Science & Environment Student
Best Electronic Engineering Student
Best Food Science, Technology & Nutrition Student
Best Information Technology Student
Best Materials Student
Best Mathematics Student
Best Mechanical Engineering Student
Best Pharmacology Student
Best Physics Student


The Awards are presented at a ceremony before an audience comprising of hundreds of technology students, academics, senior industry executives; as well as senior figures from government, scientific and technical institutions and the media.  This year's ceremony will take place in Washington D.C, on October 27th 2011.  Shortlisted students will be brought to Washington at the organizer's expense.

The most outstanding student is declared SET Student of the Year.  This is given to the highest scoring winner of all the previous categories.

As well as recognizing the best science students, we also recognize the best Professor. The Professor who taught the winning student will be declared the 2011 'Professor of the Year.'

Entering is a simple 'point and click' process via the awards website: www.setawards.org. Faculty must enter a student. Please make sure that you read the Rules section before
entering a student. Entries must be done by June 13th 2011.

If you feel you deserve a SET award then you need to discuss this with a faculty mentor and request submission. (Give the faculty member this email.)
