Boishakhi Bang! was created to provide Bengali college students with the
opportunity to celebrate their Bengali roots and their American lifestyle. This
event, now in its 6th year, is co-hosted by the Bengali student
organizations of Johns Hopkins, University of Maryland-College Park and
University of Maryland-Baltimore County and brings together a colorful
celebration of the Bengali New Year. What separates Boishakhi Bang! from
existing Bengali cultural shows is the fact that it is planned and executed
entirely by second-generation Bengali students. These individuals are born
and/or brought up in the United States and are proud of their American
culture, yet they want to hold on to the traditional customs of their
parents.

Boishakhi Bang! allows students to embrace their inner Bengali and share it
with the diverse college community from three prominent universities in
Maryland. Going on for 6 years now, this show has become an anticipated
yearly event.
