Guided Study Session Leaders Wanted for Spring 2012!
Do you like to help others? Share what you’ve learned? Work with other students in groups? If so, you might be interested in being a Guided Study Session Leader during the Spring 2012 semester. Guided Study Sessions are sponsored by the Learning Assistance Service of the University of Maryland Counseling Center. GSS provides peer-led academic support in BSCI 105, 106, 201, 202, 207, 222; CHEM 131, 135, 231, 241; and PHYS 121. We are seeking leaders for the spring semester. In order to be considered as a GSS leader, you must have previously taken the course you are selected to lead and earned at least a B+ grade; in addition you must have an overall cumulative GPA of 3.0 or higher. New leaders will enroll in EDCP 318N – Peer Leadership in Collaborative Learning Groups in their first semester of working with the program. In subsequent semester, students are paid $1200 per semester for leading 20 one-hour sessions over the course of the semester, participating in training, and completing all administrative requirements for the program.
