Accepting applications now for 2012;
      Graduate field courses and MA/MAT degree with marine-focused options
      
OXFORD, Ohio - Applications are being accepted now for 2012 Earth Expeditions field courses and the Global Field Program Master's degree, which include opportunities for marine-focused research in Baja, Belize and Australia's Great Barrier Reef.

Offered by Miami University's Project Dragonfly, Earth Expeditions and the Global Field Program bring together graduate students, scientists, educators and community leaders at critical conservation sites worldwide. The courses and degree programs can be completed part-time from anywhere in the United States or abroad, and are open to educators and other professionals from all disciplines and settings.

In Baja, students work in the diverse marine environments of the Bahía de Los Ángeles Biosphere Reserve, a UNESCO World Heritage Site. In Belize, students explore the world's second largest coral reef system. And in Australia, students conduct research on the world's largest reef system, working directly with the Great Barrier Reef Marine Park Authority, the organization responsible for the management and conservation of the Great Barrier Reef. Students in these courses apply field methods in reef, island, sea grass, mangrove and other marine ecosystems, while becoming part of a global alliance of professionals who work together to engage communities in science and conservation.

Tuition for seven graduate credits and all basic in-country expenses are covered in the $1,290 course costs. The Australia course includes a $575 additional charge to cover the research vessel and related expenses. Accepted students are responsible for airfare.
