The Loyola▪Notre Dame Library in Baltimore, Maryland, seeks an energetic, creative, and forward-looking individual with a passion for teaching to join its Research & Instruction team in July 2012.
Responsibilities:
• Provide general and subject reference assistance electronically and in person at the reference desk (includes evening and weekend hours).
• Serve as liaison and provide outreach to both graduate and undergraduate departments.
• Participate in and develop specialized information literacy instruction for liaison areas.
• Participate in the library's general instruction program for undergraduates.
• Engage in collection development and management in liaison areas.
• Participate in digital projects with an instructional focus, including tutorial building.
Reports to: Head of Research & Instruction Services
Education: MLS from ALA-accredited program required.
Experience and Qualifications: Reference and/or teaching experience in an academic setting is desirable. Required qualifications are an eagerness to learn and embrace new technologies; effective oral, written, and interpersonal communication skills; familiarity with ACRL Information Literacy Standards; ability and willingness to work in a collaborative team environment; and availability to work evenings and weekends. Education or experience in health sciences disciplines will be a plus.
The Loyola ▪ Notre Dame Library provides library and information services to Loyola University Maryland and Notre Dame of Maryland University. The Library functions as an independent organization with 35 full-time staff, including 15 professional librarians, and has been a leader in developing digital resources among comprehensive-level institutions. Located in an attractive residential area of Baltimore, the Library completed a major addition/renovation project in 2008 that enables it to provide leading-edge facilities and services to 7,500 students and 500 faculty engaged in a range of bachelor’s, master’s, and doctoral programs.
