OPPORTUNITY FOR INTERNSHIP
The National Epilepsy Foundation is offering an unpaid internship for a student in an MLS program who is interested in the healthcare and/or non-profit field. The internship will offer an opportunity to work on a project rebuilding and redeveloping a library that is in need of radical change.
The supervisor will be Judy Tapiero, Librarian and Library Consultant who is overseeing implementation of the recommendations she made in a needs assessment for the Foundation.
The internship will involve some or all of the following: deaccessioning and reorganizing print and virtual holdings, researching online journal subscriptions, sorting through archival Foundation materials going back 60 years and its pamphlet collection; also, interaction with vendors for new software, cataloging digital items and a variety of other tasks needed for a library rebuild.
Candidates should have excellent oral and written communication skills, be detail oriented and well-organized. The candidates must commit to 10 or more hours a week on site for 12 weeks. Scheduling is flexible after that.
The internship is located at the National Epilepsy Foundation headquarters in Landover, MD close to the New Carrolton metro stop.
