Engineering

Salary Range: £32,100 - £40,720 per annum

Fixed term appointment for up to 18 months

A Research Associate position is available to carry out research in the area
of Molecular Systems Engineering, as part of a collaborative project with
Dynamic Extraction, a technology company, and Novartis, a leading
pharmaceutical company. The objective of the project is to develop a
methodology for the design of separation solvents. This will require the
development of advanced thermodynamic models (using the SAFT equation of
state) and of solvent design algorithms. The post is funded by the UK
Engineering and Physical Sciences Research Council and the Technology
Strategy Board. The post holder will join a large team of postdoctoral
researchers and PhD students working in related areas and will work closely
with Prof Claire Adjiman, Prof Amparo Galindo and Prof George Jackson.

Expertise in thermodynamic modelling and/or molecular design is required.
