In the past 10 years there has been a significant growth in interest in buying food from local farmers and vendors.
As interest in local food has grown, so has the number of farmers markets, farm-run stores, and community supported agriculture (CSA) programs.
We are conducting a study funded by the USDA (US Department of Agriculture) that examines how farmers and consumers use social media to support the discovery, purchase, and distribution of local food. As part of this study, we have surveyed farmers who offer CSAs which resulted in data from ~800 farmers.
The next step in the study is to work with a subset of those farmers to survey the participants in their CSAs.
To support this we are looking for a research assistant to coordinate the logistics and execution of the survey. This will include:
* Working with the research team to refine and finalize the survey
* Contacting interested farmers
* Getting CSA participant emails into Qualtrics
* Sending surveys, reminders, and survey completion rewards
* Cleaning the survey response data
* Assisting with the analysis and writeup of the results
Good candidates must be organized, be able to draft letters/instructions, and work with Excel and Google Docs.
Experience working with surveys and Qualtrics is desirable, but not essential.
The position is an hourly position ($15 per hour, 5-10 hours a week is expected).
