Job Purpose: The overall objective of the Process Safety Engineer is to
promote a strong process safety culture by providing process safety
expertise and ensuring that management systems are established and
effectively used to maintain compliance. The ideal candidate will have
the ability to adapt in a fast paced, highly matrixed environment.
Possess strong organizational skills. Have the ability to build
professional relationships with numerous inter-dependent teams of
different disciplines. This position will provide process safety support
to Project Engineering, Operations and Corporate Process Safety groups at
Praxair Globally.
Principal Responsibilities:
•Promotes a strong process safety culture.
•Conduct formal process hazard analysis using Praxair approved
methodologies (HAZID, HAZOP, LOPA, etc…) both in the US and overseas.
•Provide PSM support throughout all stages of a projects lifecycle.
•Conduct PHA revalidations for existing facilities globally.
•Prepare and organize written presentations, documentation and reports
pertaining to process safety activities.
•Provide process safety training to PSM stakeholders.
•Participates in:
oThe development of new and existing process safety standards globally.
oKey incident investigations and maintains the qualifications of a Root
Cause Analysis (RCA) facilitator.
oKey Pre-Startup Safety Reviews (PSSR)
oProcess safety audits / assessments.

Qualifications:
Education:
•B.S. in Engineering
Professional:
Three to five years’ of experience working in an operations and or
engineering support role in the industrial gas, refining, chemical or
petro-chemical industry preferably experience working with an OSHA PSM
covered process.
Desirable Qualifications, Key Skills and Attributes:
Familiar with:
oProcess Hazard Analysis (PHA) requirements and methodologies.
oFacility Siting and Human Factors requirements.
oMany forms of Process Safety Information (PSI), how PSI is used in
operating facilities, and how it should be maintained.
oEmergency Shutdown Systems such as Safety Instrumented Systems (SIS),
oEPA's Risk Management Program (RMP).
•Knowledge of various Recognized and Generally Accepted Good Engineering
Practices (RAGAGEP) related to process safety.
•Proficient in Microsoft Word, Excel and PowerPoint.
•Flexible and willing to travel globally as necessitated by future
business needs.
•Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
This position requires approximately 30 to 50% travel.
