The following Special Issue will be published in Processes (ISSN 2227-9717, http://www.mdpi.com/journal/processes), and is now open to receive submissions of full research papers and comprehensive review articles for peer-review and possible publication:

Special Issue: Dynamic Approaches to Metabolic Modeling and Metabolic Engineering
Website: http://www.mdpi.com/si/processes/metabolic-engineering
Guest Editor: Prof. Dr. Doraiswami Ramkrishna Deadline for manuscript submissions: 31 March 2014

Brief Introduction

Overall, this Special Issue is dedicated to applying mathematical models towards the translation of fundamental theory to design, optimize and control engineering systems. Specifically, it aims to promote the use of dynamic modeling from metabolic networks to metabolic engineering, then further to enable the design of organisms to maximize productivity.

Topics of interests include, but are not limited to:

    * metabolic networks
    * metabolic Engineering
    * genetic Engineering
    * mutation
    * gene knockout
    * gene insertion
    * product yield and productivity

Manuscript guidelines

The official deadline for submission is 31 March 2014.
However, you may send your manuscript at any time before the deadline. Submitted papers should not have been published previously, nor be under consideration for publication elsewhere.
Peer review is commissioned immediately upon receipt of the paper.
The paper is published immediately upon final acceptance.
We also encourage authors to send us their tentative title and short abstract to the Editorial Office ([log in to unmask]) for approval.

About publishing fees

This Special Issue will be fully open access. Open access (unlimited and free access by readers) increases publicity and promotes more frequent citations, as indicated by several studies. Open access is supported by the authors and their institutes.
More information is available at http://www.mdpi.com/about/openaccess/.

Well-prepared papers will be published free of charge in 2013 and 2014.
An additional fee (250 CHF) may apply if extensive English editing must be undertaken by the Editorial Office. We encourage authors to collaborate with native speakers or ask an English editing company to improve the language quality before submission to avoid the English editing charge.

How to submit

Please visit the Instructions for Authors before submitting a manuscript:
http://www.mdpi.com/journal/processes/instructions.
Manuscripts should be submitted through the online manuscript submission and editorial system at http://www.mdpi.com/user/manuscripts/upload/.

About the journal

Processes (ISSN 2227-9717), an international open access journal on processes in chemistry, biochemistry, biology, and related engineering research fields, is published by MDPI online quarterly. For more information please visit Processes' Aims and Scope at:
http://www.mdpi.com/journal/processes/about.

About MDPI

MDPI publishes several peer-reviewed, Open Access journals listed at http://www.mdpi.com/. The editorial board members, including several Nobel Laureates (http://www.mdpi.com/about/nobelists/), are all leading active scholars. All these journals maintain rapid, yet rigorous, peer-review, manuscript handling and editorial processes. MDPI journals have consistently increased their impact factors, see "2012 Newly Released Impact Factors", http://www.mdpi.com/about/announcements/398.
