Brief Introduction

Overall, this Special Issue is dedicated to applying mathematical models towards the translation of fundamental theory to design, optimize and control engineering systems. Specifically, it aims to promote the use of dynamic modeling from metabolic networks to metabolic engineering, then further to enable the design of organisms to maximize productivity.

Topics of interests include, but are not limited to: 

    *  metabolic networks
    *  metabolic Engineering 
    *  genetic Engineering 
    *  mutation 
    *  gene knockout 
    *  gene insertion 
    *  product yield and productivity 

Manuscript guidelines 

The official deadline for submission is 31 March 2014. 
However, you may send your manuscript at any time before the deadline. Submitted papers should not have been published previously, nor be under consideration for publication elsewhere. 
Peer review is commissioned immediately upon receipt of the paper. 
The paper is published immediately upon final acceptance. 
We also encourage authors to send us their tentative title and short abstract to the Editorial Office ([log in to unmask]) for approval. 

About publishing fees 

This Special Issue will be fully open access. Open access (unlimited and free access by readers) increases publicity and promotes more frequent citations, as indicated by several studies. Open access is supported by the authors and their institutes.

Well-prepared papers will be published free of charge in 2013 and 2014.
