As part of last year's effort to identify a new chair/editor and new
formats for the WebCAST and CAST Newsletter, the CAST executive
committee is pleased to announce the following:

CAST Newsletter Editor:

Effective January 1, 2014, Professor Lakshminarayanan Samavedham will
take over as Editor of the CAST Newsletter. Dr. Samavedham is currently
an Associate Professor in the Department of Chemical and Biomolecular
Engineering at the National University of Singapore. Dr. Samavedham will
work closely with the first Vice Chair of the CAST division to create
content for the annual/biannual CAST Newsletter.

We thank Peter Rony and Karl Schnelle for serving as editor/associate
editor of the CAST Newsletter for more than a decade.

Suggestions/ideas on content for the CAST Newsletter, format of the
letter, medium for dissemination, etc. can be sent to Dr. Samavedham at
his e-mail [log in to unmask]

New WebCAST Chair and New WebCAST format:

Effective January 1, 2014, Professor John Hedengren will take over as
Chair of the WebCAST seminars. Dr. Hedengren is currently an Assistant
Professor of Chemical Engineering at Bringham Young University.

Past WebCAST sessions have traditionally been held a few times a year
with featured speakers highlighting areas of broad interest to the CAST
community. The new format of the WebCAST will be open access, more
frequent (i.e., weekly) and using the most accessible methods to
deliver content.

The new format for the WebCAST is designed to accomplish the following
objectives:

(1) Facilitate more frequent collaboration within the CAST community
(2) Promote CAST individuals who present in the series as experts in
those topics
(3) Attract the next generation of CAST researchers and world-wide
participants
(4) Record sessions for archiving online on YouTube.
(5) Provide Open Access to the WebCAST seminars to anyone – no
registration required to participate.
(6) Promote active learning through new format with panel discussions,
tutorials, software demonstrations, etc.

The schedule for Jan-Apr 2014 can be found at the following link:

http://apmonitor.com/wiki/index.php/Main/ApplicationWebinars

The immediate upcoming WebCAST is on January 14, 2014, the details of
which can be found at the link above.

We would like to thank Dr. Martha Grover for Chairing the WebCAST
seminars for the past several years and we look forward to the new
WebCAST format.

Suggestion on the WebCAST format and other ideas related to making the
WebCAST accessible to a broad audience to promote CAST activities can be
sent directly to Dr. John Hedengren at his e-mail: [log in to unmask]
