ExxonMobil's Corporate Strategic Research has an immediate opening for a
full-time research position in the area of mathematical optimization, data
analysis and optimization modeling within our Data Analytics and
Optimization Section.

CSR’s mission is unique within the ExxonMobil Corporation. We are tasked
with creating science-based opportunity and competitive advantage for
ExxonMobil by conducting high-risk, high-reward research aligned with the
Corporation’s business objectives. The laboratory is located 50 miles from
New York City in scenic western New Jersey. The successful candidate will
join a dynamic group of scientists performing breakthrough research for
all sectors of the corporation, developing new approaches to solve our
most challenging problems.

We are looking for a talented individual who can conduct fundamental
research in optimization modeling, data analysis and algorithms and apply
them to address a multitude of challenging decisions in upstream, refining
and chemicals sectors. Research will include: developing novel methods and
advanced solution techniques for refinery/chemicals planning, scheduling
and process control; large-scale logistics/operations optimization;
product/process discovery and design; and computational methods for
physicochemical systems.

The candidate should have a Ph.D. degree in Applied Mathematics, Chemical
Engineering, Industrial Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Operations
Research or any other related scientific discipline, with a strong
background in optimization modeling, data analysis, and algorithms for
nonlinear, non-convex, and discrete optimization. Experience in high
performance and parallel computing as well as related numerical techniques
(specifically for differential equations) is highly desirable. Knowledge
of optimization models in the oil and gas industry is a plus. The
candidate is expected to have strong communication skills with an ability
to interact with a variety of researchers and business partners in
different disciplines. The candidate should have a keen desire and
aptitude to grow into new technical areas and learn new skills.

ExxonMobil offers an excellent working environment and a competitive
compensation and benefits package. Please submit your cover letter and
resume to our website at www.exxonmobil.com/ex and apply to Data Analytics
and Optimization.
