looking to employ highly competent student programming interns starting as
early as May 27th, 2014 and continuing through the school year. Be a part of
a small team dedicated to managing a computer network of over 200 desktops
and servers, as well as 70 mobile computers spanning 4 buildings on and close
by campus, as well as designing and building complex computer programs
designed to simplify departmental work. Our student intern positions are a
great stepping stone for a career in Computer Science industries and provide
the opportunity for highly-motivated individuals to begin to interact with
enterprise-level hardware and network systems.

Benefits
•	Join a small team with a big job: meeting all the diverse computer needs
of the police department that keeps our campus safe
•	Be one of the best-paid student interns on campus: $11-14/hour,
commensurate with incoming skill set and experience
•	Gain valuable experience and build your resume: former interns have moved
on to become Microsoft employees, database administrators, cyber security
professionals, and more
•	Create your own schedule to accommodate classes, exams, etc., working
anywhere between 7am-8pm M-F
•	Work for 15-30 hours/week during the school year and 20-40 hours/week
during the summer and winter breaks
•	Be treated as a true member of the team with real responsibilities, not
just an office intern

Primary Duties
•	Develop complex web based and/or GUI based programs for internal and/or
external business applications using languages such as PHP, .Net, ColdFusion,
or Visual Basic
•	Configure, deploy, test and perform standard preventive maintenance and
simple repairs on department workstations and network components
•	Analyze, resolve, and follow through on workflow and security incidents

Desired Qualifications
•	Proficient in some form of object-oriented programming language (PHP,
Java, C++, .Net, etc)
•	Has excellent critical thinking skills using logic and reasoning to
identify strengths and weaknesses of multiple solutions or approaches to
problems
•	Able to analyze users' needs, and then design, test, and develop software
to meet those needs
•	Able to analyze and interpret existing code to be able to modify or
improve functionality
•	Experience with PHP, HTML, ColdFusion and/or AJAX a plus
•	Experience with programming in an IDE with a PHP framework (such as Zend
Framework) a plus
•	Basic computer expertise (networking, computer hardware, etc)
•	Windows Server 2003/2008 R2 and component (such as IIS) experience
•	Experience interacting with enterprise database systems (such as Oracle,
Microsoft SQL Server, etc)
•	Windows based troubleshooting experience
•	Experience with an Active Directory environment is a plus

Please note that this position requires a full year commitment May 2014 –
May 2015
