A postdoctoral position in pharmaceutical process modeling is available at the Yoon Lab in the
Department of Chemical Engineering, University of Massachusetts Lowell (MA, USA). Currently we
are looking for an experienced and highly motivated post-doctoral fellow to support our research
project funded by US FDA (Food and Drug Administration). The project is to develop Process
Modeling and Assessment Tools for Simulation, Risk Management and Design Space Development
of solid drug manufacturing processes.

The position is available immediately, but starting date can be changed to accommodate the best-
suited candidate. The initial position is for one year, with a second and third year of employment
dependent upon performance in the previous year.

The candidate is expected to have a PhD degree in Chemical Engineering and specifically in the
area of Process Systems Engineering or Systems Biology. Previous experience with process
simulation, synthesis, analysis, and optimization, including familiarity with simulation and
optimization software is required. Candidates with strong background in process synthesis and
mathematical programming will be preferred. Experience with the gPROMS, Aspen+ and Hysis,
JMP, Matlab, R statistical package is a plus.

Major responsibilities for this position include process modeling, validation, case study
development and writing of manuscripts. The position will also involve some student mentoring,
organization of laboratory activities related to the project, and weekly meetings with the PI and
project collaborators.
