Subject: The Future of Information Alliance (FIA) Seed Grants

Description:
The Future of Information Alliance (FIA)
Robert W. Deutsch Foundation
2014-2015 Seed Grant Competition

Help solve the information challenges of today's world. Student teams work
with faculty mentors and FIA Partners on real world problems. Four teams will
each win grants of up to $25,000.

Join us on Monday, Sept. 29, 2-4 pm, in Room 6173 at McKeldin Library (the
Special Events Room on the 6th floor) for a kickoff informational meeting.
You can learn more about the program and hear from the FIA Founding Partners:
the National Geographic Society, the Smithsonian Institution, the Library of
Congress, the US National Park Service, the Newseum, the National Archives,
Sesame Workshop, WAMU 88.5, the Barrie School, and the Office of the Governor
of Maryland.

Registration is required. Details at http:/fia.umd.edu/seedgrants/

Fifty students and faculty mentors from 11 of UMD’s 12 colleges and schools
were members of winning teams during the past two years. See more about the
previous seed grant winners and their projects at http://ter.ps/fia201314 and
http://ter.ps/fia201213.

The FIA-Deutsch Seed Grant Competition is made possible with a $1 million
gift from the Robert W. Deutsch Foundation: http://ter.ps/fiadeutsch.
