		The Petroleum Institute aspires to create a world-class research
institution with the main emphasis to support and advance oil, gas and
energy industries. The strong financial support of the Abu Dhabi National
Oil Company (ADNOC) and its subsidiaries, as well as four major
international oil companies, BP, Shell, JODCO and TOTAL, provide a teaching
and research environment that is unique in the resources and potential that
the PI enjoys. Research activities are well integrated into the educational
system and are expressly designed to serve the R & D needs of ADNOC and its
subsidiaries. The campus has modern instructional laboratories and classroom
facilities and state-of-the-art research laboratories and centers, such as
PI Research Center (PIRC).
		
Brief Description :		
		
	The chemical engineering faculty members play a major role in
interdisciplinary research and collaborate actively in joint research
projects through the PI standing agreements with partner universities (e.g.
University of Minnesota, University of Maryland, Colorado School of Mines,
Rice University, University of Texas - Austin, China University of Petroleum
- Beijing, and Johannes Kepler University at Linz - Austria).

Research in the department of chemical engineering is supported by
state-of-the-art laboratories and equipment. Our laboratories include the 
Catalysis, Reaction Engineering and Process Intensification laboratory, the
Flow Assurance and Production Chemistry laboratory, the Polymer laboratory
(polymer chemistry, polymer characterization and testing as well as polymer
processing), and the Environmental Chemistry laboratory. There are also
dedicated facilities and software for computational work.
		
Detailed Description	:	
		
		A postdoctoral position is currently available in the Process Systems
Engineering Laboratory at the Petroleum Institute in Abu Dhabi. Candidates
should have a PhD in chemical engineering (or related area) with expertise
in mathematical programming (mixed-integer, non-convex and stochastic
programming) and process simulation. Relevant background in petroleum
refining, petrochemicals, and gas processing is a significant advantage.

We are particularly interested in candidates with the following qualities:

·         Good knowledge of and research experience in process optimization
and simulation

·         Strong mathematical skills

·         Ability to work independently as well as collaboratively

·         Excellent oral and written communication skills

·      A good track record of research publications
		
Job Requirements:		
		The successful candidate will develop models, theory, and algorithms for
large scale optimization problem in the fields of the oil, gas, and
petrochemical industries as well as in the area of supply chain management.
        ·           He/ She will also be responsible for supervising some
graduate students in the area of process systems engineering.
		
Additional Details:		
		
           This is a fixed term position for three years and is available
immediately. Salary and benefits will be commensurate with qualifications
and experience. The total compensation package includes a tax-free 12-month
base salary, and a benefits allowance that covers relocation, housing,
initial furnishings, utilities, transportation (automobile purchase loan),
health insurance, child(ren) education, end-of-service benefit and annual
leave travel. Applicants must be in excellent health and will be required to
pass a pre-employment physical examination.

attested from the UAE embassy of the country where they have obtained their
highest degree.
