There are multiple postdoctoral openings in the Process Systems and Control
Lab at the University of California, Berkeley. The positions are in the
broad area of dynamic modeling and control of nonlinear, uncertain systems.
The specific systems under study include 1) continuous ABE fermentation
processes for biofuel production (in collaboration with the Energy
Biosciences Institute), and 2) active regulation of cell-signaling pathways
in living cells (in collaboration with the Department of Bioengineering).

The candidates are expected to hold a doctoral degree in Chemical
Engineering (or related disciplines). Strong background in dynamic
modeling, advanced control, and uncertainty analysis is required. Prior
experience with biomass conversion processes and biological systems will be
preferred.

Interested candidates should submit a cover letter (clearly indicating the
project of interest), CV, and the contact details of three references to
Dr. Ali Mesbah at [log in to unmask] The positions are available starting
immediately and will be open until filled. An initial appointment will be
made for one year, and will be renewable contingent on performance and
availability of funding.
