Shell Oil Company has an opening for a full-time staff position in our 
Process Control team based in Houston, TX.

We are looking for creative and resourceful individuals to join our
research and development team designing and developing state of the art
advanced process control solutions. The scope of this position is the
following:

• Design and develop optimization and advance process control
solutions for both downstream and upstream applications
• Plan development of concepts and demonstrate value and practical
feasibility with effective and efficient use of prototypes.
• Collaborate with product development team to efficiently
transition concepts into application design
• Implement concept designs in commercial advanced process control
technology using native programming languages (typically C++)
• Lead creative brainstorming sessions to develop design concepts
• Handover and maintain existing product solutions
• Work with site engineers and staff from other disciplines to
evaluate requirements and develop new concepts that could add value to
the commercial applications.
• Stay abreast with latest relevant technology through literature,
seminars, conferences, academia and industry
• Transfer control engineering design knowledge to operations by
providing the tools, training, information and other essential skills to
the Plant Engineers.


The candidate should have a Ph.D. degree in Chemical Engineering,
Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or other related
scientific discipline, with a strong understanding of advanced process
control, optimization. Knowledge in modelling and identification and
experience with native programming (like C/C++) is highly desirable. The
candidate is expected to have strong communication skills with an
ability to interact with a variety of researchers and business partners
in different disciplines. The candidate should also have a desire and
ability to grow into new technical areas and learn new skills.
