Subject: Research associate position

Description:
The Laboratory of Neonatal Infection and Immunity in the Department of
Pediatrics at the F. Edward Hebert School of Medicine of the Uniformed
Services University of the Health Sciences in Bethesda, MD is seeking a
full-time research associate to work in a vibrant research program focusing
on neonatal immunity and infectious diseases. Our goal is to understand the
vulnerability of infants and young children to respiratory syncytial virus
(RSV) induced lower respiratory tract illness. RSV remains the most
prevalent cause of lower respiratory tract infection, manifesting as
bronchiolitis and pneumonia in infants, and is the leading cause of
hospitalization during their first year of life. Our lab studies the
interface of the innate and adaptive immune response, primarily as it relates
to dendritic cells and T cells that drive RSV pathogenesis and can be
targeted for vaccine design. Using transgenic murine models, we explore
neonatal immune responses, immune development and maturation relevant to
infectious diseases using cellular, molecular and biochemical techniques.

The candidate should have an interest and/or background in one or more of the
following disciplines: Immunology, Genetics, Medicine or Molecular Biology,
and needs to hold a BS or MS degree. The ideal candidate will have an
excellent work ethic, very good communication skills, and previous lab
experience. Please send your application documents (cover letter, CV, contact
details of your references) to Dr. A. Malloy ([log in to unmask]).
