Come Work at HJF!
HJF is seeking a Research Assistant, (Administrative Associate with Good
Scientific Documentation) to support the Radiation Countermeasures Program at
the Scientific Research Department in the Armed Forces Radiobiology Research
Institute, Uniformed Services University of the Health Sciences (USUHS)
located in Bethesda, Maryland. HJF provides scientific, technical and
programmatic support services to USUHS.

The Research Assistant will collaborate with Principle Investigator to
determine study design in regard to statistical issues, contributes to
protocol development, writes statistical analysis plans, performs statistical
analysis and inference and writes and presents reports summarizing findings
including publications in peer-reviewed journals.

Responsibilities:

Responsible for assuring that data for statistical analyses and output are
complete and accurate, ensuring conclusions are valid.
Performs statistical analyses, and validates reproducible statistical
applications and programs.
Provides accurate and timely guidance/answers to routine questions from
colleagues. Provides relevant statistical and project status updates to
research staff through successful execution of projects.  Recommends and
implements changes as needed.
Effectively mentors non-statistical peers with regard to basic
statistical/analytic methodologies and training.
Works collaboratively with peers to develop quality project protocols, data
analysis summaries, research summary reports, presentations, annual reports,
scientific research related materials and manuscript publications.
Assists with laboratory research projects using a small animal model, as well
as a large animal model, including collection and organization of data,
biochemical assays from animal sources. Makes detailed observations about
experiments, and provides basic data analysis and interpretation.
Performs other duties as assigned by supervisor and departmental leadership.
8.   Maintains supplies in the laboratory and keeps the laboratory area
clean.

Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities: Experience with statistical,
graphing, and other relevant software applications (SPSS, GraphPad Prism,
SIGMAPLOT, MS Office, EndNote, matlab, etc.) in statistical analysis, data
science, and bioinformatics applications.

Minimal Knowledge in standard laboratory techniques; ability to follow
detailed instructions; good communication and analytical skills

Minimum Education/Training Requirements: Bachelor's degree in a scientific
discipline

Minimum Experience: 0 to 2 years’ experience

Physical Capabilities: Long periods of standing and sitting

Work Environment: Office and Laboratory environment. including some work in
an animal facility
