Internship Opportunity in Machine Learning of Industrial Images

Genentech, Inc. is seeking a graduate student pursuing M.S./Ph.D. degree in 
the area of Chemical/Biochemical Engineering or Statistical/Mathematical 
Sciences, especially with expertise in data analysis/machine learning.  The 
preferred start date is around Jan/Feb 2018, and the internship period is 6 
months.  The work location is Genentech headquarter campus in South San 
Francisco, CA.

During this research focused internship, the student will gain exposure to 
the challenges associated with industrial imagine recognition. The student 
will use industrial camera to capture product photos in the lab and apply 
machine learning algorithm to detect outliers from the photos. Appropriate 
blend of technical development and business managing will be assigned to 
the student during this internship. In addition to a strong technical 
background in data analysis/machine learning (Python and R needed), solid 
research capabilities and good communication skills are preferred.
