THE UNIVERSITY OF BRITISH COLUMBIA, Department of Chemical and Biological Engineering
 
The Department of Chemical and Biological Engineering at the University of British Columbia, Vancouver campus, invites
applications from outstanding individuals for a tenure-track appointment at the rank of Assistant Professor. Applicants must
hold a Ph.D. (conferred by the date of appointment or within the past 6 years) in Chemical and/or Biological Engineering or in
a closely related discipline. Applicants must either be registered, or be eligible to register, with the Association of Professional
Engineers and Geoscientists of British Columbia. Registration is required within five years of appointment.
 
The successful applicant would have research interests and experience in process control, process design and optimization,
data analytics with applications in chemical, biological, electrochemical and biomedical processes and systems. The
successful candidate must possess the skills, background and motivation needed to build an independent research program
of international calibre that will complement current activities in the Department. Collegial interaction will be an important
element in success. Experience in participation in research networks is an asset. The successful candidate must demonstrate
a strong commitment to high-quality undergraduate and graduate teaching, collaboration with industry, and service to the
Department, the University, and the profession. The ability to teach courses in process control and design is a requirement.
The position is available as of July 1, 2018. Review of applications will begin on February 1, 2018 and continue until the
position is filled.
 
The Department of Chemical and Biological Engineering offers programs leading to the Bachelor of Applied Science (B.A.Sc.)
degree in Chemical Engineering and to the Bachelor of Applied Science (B.A.Sc.) degree in Chemical and Biological
Engineering. Graduate programs leading to the degrees of M.Eng. M.A.Sc., M.Sc., and Ph.D. are also offered. Details about

and accomplishments, a statement about a five-year research program plan, and names and addresses (e-mail included) of
