STUDENT CALL FOR ABSTRACTS (Deadline January 29th 2018)
Dear Fellow Student and/or Student Advisor,
We would like to invite you to participate of an excellent opportunity to
present your work at the upcoming 26th annual meeting of the Council of
Ionizing Radiation Measurements and Standards (CIRMS). CIRMS will be awarding
up to eight student travel grant awards. These awards will cover conference
registration, a one-year membership to CIRMS, and $700 to cover travel and
lodging costs.
• The meeting will be held April 16-18, 2018 in Gaithersburg, Maryland at
the National Institutes of Standards and Technology (NIST)
• The abstract submission deadline is January 29, 2018.
In addition, student abstracts will be selected to enter a poster
presentation competition, in which prizes of $500, $300, and $200 will be
given out.
All work involving the use of ionizing radiation will be considered including
areas such as medical physics, radiation protection, industrial applications,
etc. Essays submissions discussing the project's objectives, methods, and
results are being solicited. Essays must not exceed 1000 words and may
include figures and tables. Additional information on the CIRMS student

It is the goal of CIRMS to encourage and expand the participation of
students. Because of this, we encourage you to submit online an essay before
the deadline at http://www.cirms.org/grant_application.html
We have an outstanding list of speakers this year on a large diversity of
topics including: radiation therapy, radiation biology, space travel,
radiation risk, micro dosimetry, imaging, sterilization, materials
modification, radiation protection, radioactivity measurements, consequence
management, homeland security applications, detection instrumentation,
nanosensors and more.A preliminary agenda for each meeting date (April 16, 17
and 18) is available at http://cirms.org/conference_agenda.html. The agenda
is being updated weekly on the website as invited speakers are confirmed.
