Subject: CCMA AmeriCorps VISTA Position Description!

Description:
For Best Consideration Due: April 5th

The Leadership & Community Service-Learning (LCSL) unit, in the Adele H.
Stamp Student Union, engages students at the University of Maryland in
meaningful community service-learning with the local community through
resources, programs, and events. LCSL strives to educate students about the
root causes of pressing social issues while making a meaningful and immediate
difference in the local community.

This CCMA AmeriCorps VISTA member will work with the University of Maryland
and Nonprofit Prince George’s County (NPGC) to increase the capacity of
nonprofits to serve the members of their community.

The CCMA AmeriCorps VISTA will have three goals while working on this
project. Their first goal is to increase the number of nonprofits who
receive capacity building information and services from NPGC. The second
goal will be to assist in increasing the capacity building services that NPGC
currently provides. The third goal will be to increase the number of
agencies in Prince George’s County receiving volunteer resources from the
University of Maryland and LCSL.

Specific responsibilities include:

· reviewing and analyzing databases of nonprofits in Prince George's
County,

· creating and implementing a media and outreach plan for NPGC in
general and Services 24/7 specifically,

· assisting with events both to help with logistics and to engage
with nonprofits in attendance to connect them with additional resources,

· adding organizations to the Services 24/7 virtual resource center,

· identifying nonprofits that could be potential partners,
solidifying relationships with nonprofits, and recruiting student leaders and
participants to volunteer through the Terps for Change program.

This is a 12-month AmeriCorps VISTA position that begins on July 8, 2019.
The stipend for this CCMA AmeriCorps VISTA position is $791.70 every two
weeks. Upon completing the 12-months of service, the person in this position
can choose either an educational award worth $6,095 to pay for further
education or $1,800 cash. This position reports directly to the LCSL
Coordinator for Terps for Change.

Qualifications: Minimum qualifications include Bachelor’s Degree and a
valid driver’s license (with a maximum of six points). Qualified
candidates will also have good people skills and be able to communicate well
both verbally and in writing. Preferred qualifications would include
experience working with project management, marketing, nonprofit agencies,
and/or technology (such as website and smart application creation as well as
social media).
