Molecular Technologist
Position Overview
The full-time position of molecular technologist will be responsible for
performing technical work
involving all aspects of molecular testing in a clinical pathology
laboratory. They will perform
routine high-complexity molecular testing with a high degree of quality and
in accordance with
established protocols. Molecular technologists will assist supervisors and
participate in
documenting and implementing Quality Assurance (QA), Quality Control (QC) and
Quality
Inventory (QI) procedures.
Responsibilities:
• Performs routine testing, quality control, calibration, and proficiency
testing in accordance
with current laboratory procedures
• Evaluate test results for quality control to verify performance of
clinical assays and
determine interference, inhibition or issues that arise during extraction,
amplification or
analysis
• Experience with the following techniques is required:
o RT-qPCR analysis of clinical specimens in accordance with established
protocol
o Magnetic bead based RNA/DNA extractions from human biological materials
• Experience with the following techniques is preferred:
o Operation of liquid handling systems
Qualifications:
• BS in biological or related field required
• MS and/or MLT (ASCP) certification in Molecular Biology preferred
• 1+ years’ experience working in a clinical molecular laboratory
preferred
Employee group: Full time
Schedule: Monday-Friday 4:00pm-12:00am
