Description:
Combating Overdoses in Rural Areas (CORA) is a UMD student org that provides
opioid addiction prevention education and resources to rural counties across
Maryland. Rural communities often have fewer resources for people battling
addiction, and consequently, overdose rates are regularly as high as those in
the cities. We are trying to correct this imbalance through educational
modules, technology, research, and resources, and we are looking for new
members to join our initiative! Our services are primarily meant to help
educate community leaders and hold community-wide educational talks, as well
as lower the barrier to access help for those who may need it.
The time commitment for members is about an hour a week, and all meetings are
conducted over Zoom! If that sounds like something you’d be at all
