Subject: SKY Happiness Retreat

Description:
UMD RecWell and Counseling Center are delighted to announce the hybrid
(in-person and online) SKY Happiness Retreat for UMD students. The in-person
component of the retreat will be hosted SEPT 10-12, 2021, followed by two,
hour-long, online follow-up sessions in the two weeks following the in-person
component. The retreat is part of the SKY Campus Happiness program! This
retreat is being offered complimentary to UMD students by the UMD Counseling
Center and UMD Recreation & Wellness.

The retreat offers an in-depth experience of effortless meditation,
breathwork, yoga, SKY (Sudarshan Kriya Yoga) Meditation, and more. SKY
(Sudarshan Kriya Yoga) Meditation uses cyclical, rhythmic patterns of breath
to easily bring the mind and body into a state of meditation.

Research has shown that SKY significantly increases feelings of well-being,
optimism, and mental focus and improves emotion regulation
(https://www.skycampushappiness.org/research). Research has shown that SKY
may reduce depression, anxiety, PTSD, stress, and addictive behaviors.
