Subject: SKY Happiness Retreat

Description:
UMD RecWell and Counseling Center are delighted to announce the hybrid
(in-person and online) SKY Happiness Retreat for UMD students. The in-person
component of the retreat will be hosted  SEPT 10-12, 2021, followed by two,
hour-long, online follow-up sessions in the two weeks following the in-person
component.  The retreat is part of the  SKY Campus Happiness program! This
retreat is being offered complimentary to UMD students by the UMD Counseling
Center and UMD Recreation & Wellness.

The retreat offers an in-depth experience of effortless meditation,
breathwork, yoga, SKY (Sudarshan Kriya Yoga) Meditation, and more. SKY
(Sudarshan Kriya Yoga) Meditation uses cyclical, rhythmic patterns of breath
to easily bring the mind and body into a state of meditation.

Research has shown that  SKY significantly increases feelings of well-being,
optimism, and mental focus and improves emotion regulation
(https://www.skycampushappiness.org/research). Research has shown that SKY
may reduce depression, anxiety, PTSD, stress, and addictive behaviors.



Program Description

•           Learn a powerful evidence-based meditation that allows your
mind to be clear and calm.

•           Experience tools to sustain personal wellbeing and happiness.

•           Understand and experience the effortless power of breathing
techniques in effectively managing stress, energy, focus, and negative
emotions.

•           Learn new frameworks for dealing with stressful situations and
enhancing communication.



Space Limited!

There are limited spots available for the SKY Happiness Retreat. Availability
is first come, first serve, and requires attendance of all in-person sessions
and two 1 hour online followups.

COST: Complimentary for the UMD students if attended fully (in-person
component and two online follow-up sessions).

Barring unforeseen circumstances, if registered applicants fail to attend all
sessions in their entirety, a $55 charge will be applied to their student fee
bill.

VENUE

SEPT 10-12: In-person at the UMD University Recreation Center

TImings and dates of the two online followup 1-hour follow-up sessions (over
Zoom) to be decided during the retreat taking into account students'
schedules.
