Dear Students, Faculty, Staff and Friends of the UMD Community, NOBCChE-UMD is the University of Maryland, College Park student chapter of the National Organization for the Professional Advancement of Black Chemists and Chemical Engineers whose mission is to build an eminent community of scientists and engineers by increasing the number of minorities in the fields of science and technology. This chapter’s existence was made possible by the efforts of former Assistant Dean: Dr. Amel Anderson, Department Chair: Professor Michael Doyle, and Professor Lawrence Sita in 2005, who understood the significance of this mission. Over the years, NOBCChE-UMD has worked to establish itself as the “go-to” organization in the Department of Chemistry and Biochemistry for those seeking leadership, volunteer and professional development opportunities. At the following link you will find our first newsletter which outlines our accomplishments this past academic year. I encourage you all to continue your support of the NOBCChE-UMD organization this academic year! http://www2.chem.umd.edu/umd-nobcche/wp-content/uploads/2011/10/NOBCChE-UMD-Newsletter-Fall-2011_Final.pdf Sincerely, NOBCChE-UMD Members
