The Animal Parasitic Diseases Laboratory, Beltsville, Maryland, is seeking to fill a full-time temporary, not to exceed 6 month appointment, as a Biological Science Technician to perform general laboratory duties. The technician would work full-time. The purpose of the work is to analyze immune and genetic control of responses to infectious respiratory diseases. The technician will use immune and molecular techniques: perform tissue culture to grow cell lines and hybridomas; prepares RNA from pig blood and tissue samples, uses ELISAs and fluorescent bead (Luminex) assays to measure culture supernatants and serum cytokine and chemokine protein levels; and assist in preparing samples for analyses of gene expression by quantitative PCR using ABI TaqMan and RNA-seq approaches.
