A postgraduate internship is available at the U.S. Environmental
Protection Agency’s (EPA) Office of Water, in Washington, D.C. This
internship will be served with the Office of Wastewater Management, in
the Water Permit Division, Industrial Branch. EPA partners with
authorized states to develop, support, and manage the National Permit
Discharge Elimination System (NPDES) permit program to protect and
restore the nation’s waters. A primary role of the Industrial Branch is
the development and administration of the Vessel General Permit (VGP),
an NPDES general permit for incidental vessel discharges.

The applicant should have either received a master’s or doctoral degree
in environmental science, biology, or ecology within five years of the
desired starting date, or be currently enrolled in a doctoral program
and have completed at least two years of coursework , or completion of
all requirements for the degree should be expected prior to the starting
date. In addition, applicants that have completed a law degree with a
strong background in environmental policy or environmental science are
eligible.
