Federal agencies, nonprofits, think tanks, and policy-related organizations are interested in your scientific expertise as they confront pressing issues in healthcare, cybersecurity, sustainability, and science diplomacy. The Federal Semester Program and Global Semester in Washington, D.C. offer you a chance to take your knowledge and skills out of the classroom and apply them in the real world. Apply by April 6 for first round consideration! Join a lively, engaged, and motivated student community! Both programs combine a fall seminar in an issue area with a spring internship in Washington D.C. Some of our concentrations include Science Diplomacy, Energy and Environment, Health Policy, and Responses to Global Challenges. Past internship locations include the National Institutes of Health, Department of Energy, House Committee on Science, Space, and Technology; Aerospace Industries Association; the White House Office of Science and Technology Policy; and the Department of Health and Human Resources. Year-round activities include trips to Capitol Hill and federal agencies, professional development workshops, and conversations with policymakers. The programs also feature one-on-one assistance in writing resumes, obtaining internships, etc. Students who successfully complete program requirements will earn a notation on their transcript!
