The FDA is a premiere institution for research, and internship positions are highly competitive. Job/Opportunity Description: The Hematology Lab at the U.S. Food and Drug Administration in White Oak, MD, under the direction of Dr. Chava Kimchi-Sarfaty, is looking to hire a highly motivated individual to take part in projects related to bioinformatics and computational biology. This opportunity is a paid fellowship position and an opportunity to gain significant research experience. This research lab has been one of the leading groups for genetic research on synonymous mutations and their relationships to Hemophilia and other disease manifestations. This candidate will have the opportunity to work on many unique genetic projects related to developing models and tools for disease prediction, extracting data from new genetic and genomic databases, and analyzing experimental data. The position is expected to begin sometime between May and August of 2015. Job Location: White Oak, MD Qualifications: Applicants should have at least a Bachelor’s degree in a quantitative field such as computer science, mathematics, statistics or physics by the end of May 2015. Applicants should be comfortable with programming and data analysis, and will preferably have had experience with genomic data. Experience with statistical programming languages (e.g. R, SAS) and fast scripting languages (e.g. Python, Perl) is a big plus.
