The Suicide Care, Prevention, and Research Initiative (Suicide CPR
Initiative) at the Uniformed Services University of the Health Sciences, F.
Edward Hebert School of Medicine, Department of Medical and Clinical
Psychology in Bethesda, Maryland is accepting applications for a full-time
Research Assistant I position. The Research Assistant II will serve as a
member of a multidisciplinary team of investigators, clinicians, and graduate
students, to examine topics pertaining to suicide prevention, intervention,
and postvention as well as military mental health.

A minimum of a master’s degree in addition to a military background and/or
experience are highly preferred. Additional desired qualifications include
attention to detail, strong organizational and multi-tasking skills, ability
to work independently as well as part of a team, critical thinking skills,
prior experience in a research environment, superb writing and editing
skills, and interest as well as experience in suicide prevention research.

Responsibilities:

Provides research support for a number of projects pertaining to suicide
prevention, intervention, and postvention as well as military mental health
Assists with the conduct of literature reviews and preparation of written
summaries
Contributes to the content and formatting of presentation slides and posters
for scientific dissemination
Assists with the preparation of scientific reports, scholarly manuscripts,
and Institutional Review Board protocols
Participates in regular meetings to discuss progress on assigned tasks
Performs data collection, data entry, and clean up
Functions as a coder for military suicide death reviews and contributes to
the preparation of written executive summaries, presentation slides, and
timelines
Provides presentations on various topics, as assigned for multiple projects
Travels to sites as necessitated by each project and represents the research
team
Performs other program-related duties, as assigned. Please note that the
omission of specific duties here does not preclude the Director from
assigning duties that are logically related to the position.
Minimum Education/Training Requirements: Applicants must have a Bachelor’s
degree in Psychology, Public Health, Social Work, or related field.

Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities: Knowledge of research design and
methodology; some experience in clinical or translational research. Prior
military service experience is highly desirable.

Minimum Experience: 0-2 years of research assistant experience

Travel: Will require some travel as needed for study implementations and data
collection

Work Environment: Suicide CPR Initiative, Uniformed Services University of
the Health Sciences

Background: Eligibility to obtain a Common Access Card (CAC); eligibility to
obtain and hold a Public Trust background.
