Jobs ExxonMobil Chemical is seeking Process Control Application Engineers for two positions in its Core Engineering Department. The scope of work is to support ExxonMobil Chemical Manufacturing globally. It involves a combination of (1) implementing new applications projects or sustaining existing applications, and (2) improving, acquiring, or developing process control applications technologies. We will consider candidates with industrial experience, and new graduates. Applicants must have a M.S. or Ph.D. Chemical Engineering degrees are preferred. The requirement is the ability to understand, model, and explain chemical processes. Applicants must have a solid understanding of dynamics, stability, and control theory fundamentals. Basic competency with model predictive control -- including systems identification, fundamental modeling, and parameter estimation -- is expected. Experience with open equation modeling and nonlinear programming is required for experienced hire applicants, and advantageous for new graduate applicants. Applicants must be proficient programmers in at least one of the following languages: Matlab, Visual Basic, or Fortran. Initial assignments will be in our real time optimization or nonlinear model predictive control program areas. Applicants must be able to speak and write clearly, concisely, and persuasively. They must be able to interact effectively with peers, across organizational lines, and in diverse teams. The positions require consulting ability, good business judgment, results-orientation, leadership, and creativity. Occasional international travel is expected.
