All,

I am seeking to hire a postdoctoral associate who will be located in Cincinnati working with Proctor and Gamble (P&G) on planning, scheduling and other process optimization problems.

P&G Postdoctoral Position

Dr Matthew Realff, of the School of Chemical and Biomolecular Engineering, Georgia Institute of Technology, is seeking a postdoctoral fellow with expertise in optimization, scheduling, planning and process modeling.  The position is a liaison between Dr Realff and Proctor & Gamble, and requires that the individual be located at the central research facility in Cincinnati Ohio.  The main research element of the position is in formulating and solving large scale optimization problems in planning and scheduling of consumer goods and applying supply chain concepts to P&G operations.

Candidate must have a Ph.D. in Chemical Engineering, Systems Engineering, Industrial Engineering, Operations Research, Computer Science or related field.  Strong written and oral skills are required as selected candidate will need to effectively interact faculty and industrial partners.  The ideal candidate will also have a background in statistical modeling and a deep understanding of the impact of variability on business decisions.  Although this position will not involve extensive programming, experience with development languages (eg. Visual Basic and C++) and modeling packages (eg. XPRESS-MP, JMP, Extend, etc.) would be beneficial.

The individual will help P&G by increasing their exposure to advanced optimization tools and techniques, and will be responsible for identifying and extracting core research questions that can be pursued jointly between P&G and  Georgia Tech.  The salary will be approximately $50,000 p.a. and is available for one year with the possibility of extension.
