RESEARCH ASSOCIATES: DECISION-MAKING IN THE BIOPROCESS
INDUSTRY
To meet the many challenges in the development of antibody therapeutics,
AstraZeneca, MedImmune (Cambridge) and UCL’s Advanced Centre for
Biochemical Engineering are working together to advance the application
of decision sciences in the bioprocessing sector. Three exceptional
opportunities exist to join a challenging multidisciplinary three-year
programme funded by the Technology Strategy Board and EPSRC.
THREE-YEAR APPOINTMENTS:
COMBINATORIAL OPTIMISATION, UCL, LONDON
You will devise, implement and apply computer-based algorithms for
assessing manufacturing strategies for biopharmaceuticals. Experience in
mathematical programming and combinatorial optimisation algorithms is
required. UCL Taking Action for Equality.
DATABASE DEVELOPMENT & ANALYSIS, ASTRAZENECA, CHESHIRE
You will be responsible for industrial surveys, benchmarking studies,
database construction and analysis. Ideally experience with developing
and managing databases and knowledge of biologics manufacturing would be
valuable.
PROCESS SIMULATION & ECONOMICS, MEDIMMUNE, CAMBRIDGE
You will be responsible for process economic modelling to predict the
logistical and economic impacts of processing strategies. Experience in
some of the following areas is desirable: bioprocess modelling,
discrete-event simulation, process economics.
Candidates should have a PhD or equivalent qualification in any of the
following disciplines: Biochemical Engineering, Chemical Engineering,
Computer Science or a relevant Management/Business Studies discipline. We
are looking for people who are proactive, team players with good
interpersonal skills and a logical and analytical approach to problem
solving.
