ASRC Management Services is rapidly growing and is seeking a Reference Librarian in Fort Meade, MD to support our contract with the Environmental Protection Agency. The Reference Librarian provides professional level support for client reference, user access, and information/library management services in multiple formats such as e-mail, web forms, paper mail, phone, face to face, etc. This position has a focus on supporting core library services. The Reference Librarian is a solo onsite staff member at the location, but is a member of a larger library and public access team at the client headquarters in Washington, DC. Roles/Responsibilities: Providing professional level library services that include, but are not limited to: reference support, collection development,collection maintenance and user access support for both client staff and members of the public. Coordinating and facilitating the use of additional library services for Ft. Meade based Agency staff that may be provided by the Library, a Lead Service Center or through other network libraries. Supporting virtual reference services for public access to EPA Web sites and some web site/page maintenance and editing. Tracking usage statistics, preparing weekly and monthly reports as determined by supervisory staff and the client, participating in Library Network collaborative activities - monthly conference calls, providing input for information product evaluations, providing professional input on network procedures and practices, etc. Education/Experience: Minimum education level - Masters degree in Library Science or equivalent from an ALA accredited institution. Minimum 2 years of experience providing professional librarian services. Strong background working with reference materials and electronic resources. A focus in the area of environmental science is preferred. Demonstrated strong written and oral communication abilities. Demonstrated ability to work in a team environment. Proficiency with spreadsheets, databases, and office applications. Proficiency with WWW searching and research. Proficiency editing web sites using HTML. Other web coding experience is a plus. Experience in preparing analytic reports and statistics, use of applications such as Excel, and development of logical expressions and database queries.
