WHO? Student Archivists at Maryland WHAT? 5th Annual Americana Festival: "A Celebration of Culture and Memory," "History Detectives" WHERE? McKeldin Library Room 6137 , University of Maryland College Park WHEN? Monday, October 6th, 2008 5:00pm—8:00pm WHY? This year's conference will show how different researchers can unlock the secrets of our past through the documentary record preserved in archives. The three speakers featured this year will take us on their paths of historical detective work and also elaborate upon how they share these stories with the public through their different media. HOW MUCH? Suggested $3 Donation Refreshments will be served, along with live music, during the Reception from 5:00—5:45pm. Presentations from three noted speakers will begin at 6:00pm. Student Archivists at Maryland is the student chapter of the Society of American Archivists at the University of Maryland. The purpose of this organization is to develop archival skills and to promote awareness of social responsibilities in order to encourage student participation in archival affairs. This event is co-sponsored by the University of Maryland Libraries.
