Process Design for JP8 Production from Biomass Feedstocks
A post-doctoral research position is available in the laboratories
of Professors Michael A. Henson and George W. Huber in the Chemical Engineering
Department at the University of Massachusetts. The research involves the
development and evaluation of process design methodologies for conversion of biomass
feedstocks to the jet fuel JP8. This project is funded by DARPA through a
subcontract from Logos Technologies. Close interactions with academic and
industrial collaborators will be required. Candidates with a Ph.D. in chemical
engineering or a related field and the following background are sought: (1)
liquid biofuels process technologies; (2) process modeling and design; and (3)
dynamic process simulation and optimization.
The position is available starting March 1, 2009 for a
period of one year. A 12-18 month extension is possible with satisfactory
progress and availability of funds. The stipend and benefits are competitive.
