A Capital Celebration: SLA @ 100 - Reception with Guy St. Clair The Washington, DC, chapter of SLA is kicking off the SLA Centennial celebration with a reception sponsored by Dow Jones. This signature event held at the National Geographic Society will start the year-long celebration in style! Our featured speaker will be Guy St. Clair, author of SLA's commemorative history, SLA at 100: >From Putting Knowledge to Work to Building the Knowledge Culture. Mr. St. Clair will speak to members about what he learned in writing the book, share some of the association's historical highlights, and describe how these first one hundred years have been, as he puts it, "just prelude, a lead-in to our association's true greatness to come." Guy St. Clair is well known to SLA members as Mr. Knowledge Services, as SLA President in the early 1990's, and as a consulting specialist for knowledge services at SMR International. Also plan on spending some time during the evening examining the Centennial Showcase ( http://www.sla.org/content/resources/leadcenter/leadresour/Centshowcase.cfm ), a 3-dimensional, 140+ item display celebrating SLA's 100-year history.
