The Interactive Media Department of Maryland Institute
College of Art invites applications for a full-time position with a multi-year
renewable contract in a non-tenure institution.
Position Description:
Begins: Fall 2009. The college seeks an interaction designer
who will bring strong visual and critical abilities to a growing and dynamic
Interactive Media department. The program emphasizes interaction design for all
screens; ubiquitous computing; and encourages students to explore ideas across
the disciplines of art and design. The selected candidate will teach 6 courses
per year and participate actively in institutional governance; departmental
operations, including registration, advising, and departmental activities.
Position Qualifications:
•
Masters degree
•
Minimum of 3 years of college level teaching beyond assistantships or
equivalent professional experience,
•
Outstanding portfolio of professional work
•
Expertise with interface and user experience design
Valued but not required:
•
Expertise in information architecture, usability, data visualization, online
commerce, and/or programming languages for the web
