NATURE OF JOB: Administers all aspects of the collections, services,  
programs and staffing of the Melvin B. Tolson Black Heritage Center.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: Provide leadership, management, and  
direction for the Melvin B. Tolson Black Heritage Center including  
access services, reference services, bibliographic instruction and  
outreach, collection development, University Archives, marketing and  
facilities management. Develop displays and exhibits that positively  
and realistically depict African and African American life and  
culture. Advise the Director of the University Libraries on the needs  
of the Black Heritage Center. Seek outside funding to enhance the  
Center's collections and services. Perform other duties as assigned.  
Must be available for rotating evening and weekends schedule as well  
as special.

QUALIFICATIONS: Required: MLS or MLIS from an ALA accredited program.  
Minimum of three years experience in an academic library. Strong  
leadership, organizational, and interpersonal communication skills.  
Experience with marketing and promoting library services, collection  
management, staff development, planning and assessment. Knowledge of  
emerging trends in special collections practices. Familiarity with  
Microsoft office suite. Desired: Archival certification, teaching  
experience, knowledge of African American history.

SALARY: $40,000 ANNUALLY
