Description:
The
American Planning Association Library seeks short term help in our Washington
D.C. office, Gain hands-on experience cataloguing our specialized collection
focusing on urban planning and allied fields. Learn to apply classification
schemes (Library of Congress and the APA’s own system), make subject
assignments, and maintain authority records in an integrated library system.
Qualifications:
Candidate
must be currently enrolled in, or a graduate of, an ALA-accredited MLS degree
program. Academic background/interest in social sciences, policy, urban
planning, or public health desired. Knowledge of Library of Congress
Classification, AACR2 cataloguing standards, and ability to quickly learn
APA’s own classification system required. Excellent organizational
skills and the ability to work independently are required.
Schedule
& Salary:
The
schedule is flexible during regular business hours. Minimum 15 hours per week
for 6 weeks. Schedule can be adjusted to meet practicum or internship
requirements.
