LAC Group
seeks a Library Technician to work
on an on-going contract at a Federal government agency in Silver Spring, MD.
This is full-time benefited position on a five year contract that recently
began.
Responsibilities:
- Performs simple copy-cataloging, new
editions, and annual updates in an electronic environment.
- Performs all aspects of
post-cataloging support such as adding bar codes, property stamps, and
spine labels.
- Performs necessary steps to withdraw
material from the collection and database.
- Provides interlibrary borrowing and
lending services in an electronic environment, such as OCLC and the
Internet. Deciphers and validates patron requests, which may involve
extensive searching in computer-based and manual catalogs.
- Assists library patrons in
checking-in, identifying, and checking-out materials.
- Provide technical support to Federal
staff by screening in-coming reference calls and providing accurate
response to simple, readily-available information.
Qualifications:
- Previous experience in a library in
the areas of book processing, collection management, interlibrary loans,
and reference technical support.
- Academic degree from an accredited
university.
