Program: Information Resource Center
Title: Collection Analysis
Intern
Description: The WWF
Information Resource Center is a full-service special library. The IRC
has recently moved to a new space, and will be reducing the overall size
of the print collection. In order to ensure
continued availability of the unique and rare items in our collection, a
detailed collection analysis will be performed before deselection
begins.
The Collection Analysis Intern
will prepare MARC records from the IRC’s holdings for analysis against
WorldCat. Using the reports generated from that analysis, she or he
will make recommendations for deselection. Time
permitting, the intern will begin the process of deaccessioning.
The ideal Collection Analysis
Intern candidate is a current student or recent graduate of an
accredited information sciences program, with an interest in collection
development or cataloging. Background in ecology, conservation
science, or environmental issues a plus.
Stipend: Small stipend or
eligible as a practicum for course credit
Duration: Fall Semester
(mid-September start)
